MEET THE APPLEGATES
Dick and Johnny lose the human façade
Male insects wear a suburban father and teenage son as coordinated social camouflage; drugs and stress make the human surfaces fail.
Clerk's note —
Giant Brazilian beetles assume the form of an average American family, move into suburban Ohio, and the father takes a job at the nuclear power plant he intends to melt down. They learned to be people from a Fun with Dick and Jane reader. Their queen arrives played by Dabney Coleman. The insects are wearing the family, the job and the neighbourhood at once.
